Intimidate represents your ability to coerce others through threats, physical presence, and sheer menace. It's the blunt instrument of social interaction—where Charm creates goodwill and Persuade builds agreement, Intimidate forces compliance through fear. In Call of Cthulhu, Intimidate can be verbal (threats, aggressive tone) or physical (looming over someone, displaying weapons, demonstrating strength). It's effective for getting quick results from reluctant informants or scaring off minor threats. However, intimidated people comply out of fear, not loyalty—they'll turn on you the moment they feel safe, and may alert authorities or enemies.
