Basic tech (Cyberpunk RED)

Skills

Definition

Basic Tech is your ability to repair, maintain, and jury-rig everyday technology. In Night City, everything breaks eventually—vehicles, weapons, doors, locks, appliances—and someone has to fix it. Basic Tech covers the general mechanical and technical knowledge needed to keep things running when you don't have a specialist around. This skill represents a broad working knowledge of how things are built and how they fail. You can patch a leaking radiator, fix a jammed door mechanism, rewire a busted light panel, or perform routine maintenance on gear. While it won't let you build cyberware or crack encrypted security systems, Basic Tech is the duct-tape-and-ingenuity skill that keeps edgerunners operational between jobs. In a city where calling a repairman might get you robbed, doing it yourself is a survival skill.

How it works

**Linked Stat**: TECH **Key Uses**: - Repairing damaged equipment and gear - Performing routine maintenance on vehicles and weapons - Jury-rigging temporary fixes in the field - Picking mechanical locks and bypassing simple mechanisms **Additional**: Basic Tech is the catch-all repair skill.
