Bribery (Cyberpunk RED)

Skills

Definition

Bribery is the art of using money, favors, or other incentives to get people to look the other way, provide access, or share information they shouldn't. In Night City, corruption is a feature, not a bug. Everyone from beat cops to corporate middle managers has a price, and Bribery is knowing what that price is and how to offer it without getting arrested or insulted. Bribery uses your COOL stat and represents the social finesse of corruption. It's not just about throwing money at people—it's about reading the situation, knowing who can be bought, approaching them correctly, and making the offer in a way that lets both parties maintain plausible deniability. Offer too little and you insult them. Offer too much and they get suspicious. Offer the wrong person and you're in a cell. Good Bribery is a precise social skill that greases the machinery of Night City in ways that no amount of hacking or combat can replicate.

How it works

**Linked Stat**: COOL **Key Uses**: - Bribing officials and guards to look the other way - Paying for insider information - Securing access to restricted areas - Getting favorable treatment from authorities **Additional**: Bribery requires having something to offer—usually eddies. The amount required depends on the risk the target takes and their position. Failed Bribery attempts can have serious consequences.

Tips

**Build Advice**: Extremely useful for crews that deal with authorities, security, or corporate gatekeepers. Keep a bribe fund in your budget. **Synergies**: Works alongside Streetwise for knowing who can be bribed. Persuasion provides backup when bribery alone isn't enough. **Character Concepts**: Connected fixer, corporate insider, corrupt cop turned edgerunner, smuggler who knows every checkpoint guard by name.

Frequently asked questions

Can you bribe anyone?

Not everyone can be bribed, and the risk of a failed attempt varies. Some people are idealistic, some are too afraid of their bosses, and some will take your money and betray you anyway. Good Bribery helps you read who's open to it.
