Martial arts (Cyberpunk RED)

Skills

Definition

Martial Arts represents formal training in unarmed combat disciplines—karate, judo, taekwondo, krav maga, or any of the countless fighting styles practiced in the Time of the Red. Unlike Brawling's street-fighting approach, Martial Arts provides trained techniques, disciplined forms, and refined combat methods. Martial Arts uses your DEX stat and functions as the advanced unarmed combat skill. It provides access to special techniques that Brawling doesn't offer, including throws, holds, sweeps, and advanced strikes. In Night City's underground fight circuits, martial artists are prized competitors. On the street, a skilled martial artist can disarm opponents, control fights through grappling, and strike with precision that raw Brawling can't match. Combined with cyberware enhancements, a martial artist becomes a terrifyingly efficient close-combat weapon.

How it works

**Linked Stat**: DEX **Key Uses**: - Advanced unarmed combat with trained techniques - Throws, holds, and grappling maneuvers - Disarming opponents - Precise striking for maximum effect **Additional**: Martial Arts can substitute for Brawling in unarmed combat and provides access to additional combat techniques not available through Brawling.

Tips

**Build Advice**: Choose Martial Arts over Brawling if you want a more technical unarmed fighter. The special techniques offer tactical options that Brawling lacks. **Synergies**: Combines well with Evasion for a complete close-combat package. Cyberware like Gorilla Arms enhances damage while Martial Arts provides technique. **Character Concepts**: Trained fighter, dojo student, corporate bodyguard with combat training, disciplined assassin.
