Melee (Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition)

Skills

Definition

Melee covers fighting with handheld weapons, from knives and swords to improvised clubs and chains. While less common in the modern era, many vampires maintain proficiency with melee weapons, especially those from earlier periods. Melee weapons can deal significant damage and, unlike Brawl, can be enhanced or enchanted. Some vampires prefer the elegance of swordplay, while others use whatever's at hand.

How it works

**Common Rolls**: - Strength + Melee: Heavy weapons, powerful strikes - Dexterity + Melee: Light weapons, finesse attacks **Damage**: Melee weapons add bonus damage dice based on the weapon type. **Specialties**: Swords, Knives, Clubs, Improvised Weapons, Fencing, Stakes

Tips

**Character Concepts**: Fencer, knife fighter, medieval enthusiast, bouncer, martial artist. **Synergies**: Potence adds damage. Celerity allows multiple attacks. Stakes require Melee to deliver.

Frequently asked questions

Can I stake a vampire with Melee?

Yes! Staking requires a called shot to the heart (increased difficulty) using a wooden stake. This uses Melee for the attack roll.
