Evasion (Cyberpunk RED)

Skills

Definition

Evasion is your ability to not get hit—dodging bullets, ducking melee swings, and getting out of the way of explosions. In Cyberpunk RED's lethal combat system, not getting hit is often better than wearing armor, because even armored characters take damage from powerful weapons. Evasion uses your DEX stat and is one of the most important defensive combat skills. When an attacker fires at you, your Evasion determines your Difficulty Value (DV)—the number they need to beat to hit you. Higher Evasion means you're harder to hit, period. In Night City's deadly firefights where a burst of assault rifle fire can end your career, every point of Evasion matters. The skill represents a combination of instinct, training, and awareness that lets you read incoming attacks and react before they connect.

How it works

**Linked Stat**: DEX **Key Uses**: - Setting your defense DV against ranged attacks - Dodging melee attacks - Getting out of blast zones - Avoiding area-effect attacks **Additional**: Your Evasion + DEX + 1d10 is your defense roll against attacks. This is one of the most rolled skills in combat.

Tips

**Build Advice**: Every combat character needs Evasion. It's your primary defense in firefights. Even non-combat characters benefit, since anyone can get shot at. **Synergies**: High DEX boosts both Evasion and many attack skills. Reflex-boosting cyberware enhances your dodging ability. **Character Concepts**: Agile solo, acrobatic infiltrator, street samurai, anyone who plans to survive combat.

Frequently asked questions

Is Evasion or armor more important?

Both matter, but Evasion prevents hits entirely while armor only reduces damage from hits you take. The best defense combines high Evasion with good armor.
