Pilot air vehicle (Cyberpunk RED)

Skills

Definition

Pilot Air Vehicle is the skill of flying aircraft—primarily Aerodynes (AVs), the VTOL aircraft that serve as Night City's premium transportation, air ambulances, and corporate assault platforms. AVs dominate Night City's skyline, and the ability to fly one opens up an entirely different dimension of mobility. Pilot Air Vehicle uses your REF stat and is a rare, high-value skill. Most Night City residents never touch an AV's controls. Pilots are in demand by corporations, trauma teams, law enforcement, and wealthy individuals. For edgerunners, having a pilot in the crew means aerial insertion, rooftop extractions, and escape routes that ground-bound pursuers can't follow. The skill also covers helicopters and other aircraft, though AVs are by far the most common aircraft in the Time of the Red. It's an expensive skill to practice—flight hours aren't cheap—but the tactical advantages are enormous.

How it works

**Linked Stat**: REF **Key Uses**: - Flying Aerodynes (AVs) for transport and combat - Aerial insertions and extractions - High-speed air chases - Navigating Night City's aerial traffic **Additional**: AVs are extremely expensive to own or rent. This skill is most relevant when the crew has access to an AV through a job, contact, or significant resources.

Tips

**Build Advice**: Niche but game-changing when available. If your campaign involves AV access, this skill transforms your crew's capabilities. **Synergies**: Pairs with Drive Land Vehicle for complete vehicle coverage. Useful alongside combat skills for strafing runs and aerial combat. **Character Concepts**: Trauma Team pilot, corporate extraction specialist, nomad air cavalry, smuggler running aerial routes.

Frequently asked questions

How often will I actually fly in a campaign?

It depends on the campaign. Some games feature regular AV access through corporate connections or crew resources. Others keep it rare. Discuss with your GM before investing heavily.
