Manipulation (Werewolf: The Apocalypse 5th Edition)
Definition
Manipulation measures a Garou's ability to influence others through cunning, misdirection, and social maneuvering. While Charisma inspires, Manipulation steers. It is the attribute of the schemer, the negotiator who always gets the better deal, and the trickster who turns enemies against each other without ever raising a claw. In Garou society, Manipulation has a complicated reputation. The Garou value directness and honor, and overt manipulation is frowned upon. Yet the Ragabash role exists precisely because the Garou Nation needs those willing to use cunning. Against human institutions like Pentex, manipulation is often more effective than raw force. Within pack politics, a subtle hand can resolve conflicts before they escalate to challenge rites.

Frequently asked questions
Is Manipulation considered dishonorable for Garou?
It depends on context. Ragabash are expected to use cunning and trickery as part of their auspice role. Other auspices using Manipulation overtly may lose Honor Renown if caught being dishonest with packmates.
Does Manipulation work on spirits?
Some spirits can be manipulated, but many are perceptive enough to see through deception. Chiminage (offering fair trades) is generally more reliable for spirit dealings than manipulation.
