Roleplaying
Also known as: RP, in-character, IC
Definition
Speaking and acting as your character, making decisions based on their personality, goals, and knowledge rather than your own. The 'RP' in TTRPG.
Example
“Instead of 'I try to persuade the guard,' you might say in your character's voice: 'Listen friend, we both know the captain would want to hear this. Let us through and there's a gold piece in it for you.'”
Common Mistakes
- Thinking you need to do voices (you don't - third person is fine)
- Using 'what my character would do' to justify being a jerk to other players
- Not roleplaying during combat (combat IS roleplay)
