Health (Hunter: The Reckoning 5th Edition)
Definition
Health tracks the physical damage a hunter can sustain before being incapacitated or killed. Unlike vampires who shrug off bullets and heal with blood, hunters are mortal -- every wound is real, every injury carries lasting consequences, and enough damage will kill them outright. This fundamental vulnerability defines the Hunter 5e experience. Hunters cannot afford to trade blows with supernatural creatures. Health is a finite, precious resource that must be managed carefully through tactics, preparation, and knowing when to retreat. A single bad encounter can put a hunter in the hospital for weeks or end their story permanently. Health damage comes in two types: Superficial and Aggravated. Superficial damage represents bruises, minor cuts, and fatigue that heals naturally. Aggravated damage represents serious injuries -- broken bones, deep lacerations, and trauma that requires medical attention. When your Health track fills with Aggravated damage, your hunter is dead. No second chances, no supernatural resurrection.

Frequently asked questions
How do hunters heal damage?
Hunters heal naturally over time -- Superficial damage recovers in days, Aggravated damage in weeks. Medical attention (Intelligence + Medicine) can accelerate recovery. There is no supernatural healing available to hunters.
Can hunters survive Aggravated damage?
Yes, as long as their entire Health track isn't filled with Aggravated damage. A mix of Superficial and Aggravated is survivable. But once every box is Aggravated, the hunter dies.
